Cookies

What this site stores on your device, why, and how to say no. Written to be read rather than to be technically defensible and impossible to follow.

The short version: a few cookies are needed for the shop to work at all - mainly your cart and staying signed in. Everything beyond that is optional and off until you say yes, and if you decline, the shop behaves identically.

Set without asking, because the shop needs them

These are the ones that make the site function. There is no meaningful consent to ask for here, because declining them would mean declining the thing you came to do.

• Your cart: remembers what you put in the basket so it survives a closed tab. The id is the only thing stored on your device; what is in the basket lives on our server.
• Your session: keeps you signed in as you move between pages. It ends when you sign out or it expires.
• Your consent answer: remembers what you told the banner, so it stops asking.
• Payment: Stripe sets its own cookies during checkout to detect fraud. We never see your card details, and that is the point of using them.

Analytics, and why it is not behind the banner

We use Plausible, and we chose it specifically because it sets no cookies and stores nothing that identifies a person. It records that a page was opened and how far down it was read - never who did it. That is why it loads without asking: there is no cookie to consent to.

We think you should know that rather than have it omitted because it happens to be legal. If you would rather not be counted at all, a browser that blocks analytics domains stops it, and nothing on the shop changes.

What this answers is which section of a page people stop at - which is the only way a small shop can tell whether a page is working, at volumes far too low to test any other way.

Advertising

There is no advertising pixel on this site today. Nothing here reports your visit to an ad platform, because no ad platform is connected.

If that changes, it goes behind the banner and stays off until you allow it, and this page gets rewritten in the same change rather than afterwards. What such a pixel would ever be told is that a purchase happened and what it was worth - never your name, your address, or what else you looked at.

Changing your mind

• On this site: reopen the cookie settings from the footer and change any answer. It applies immediately, with no reload.
• In your browser: every browser can block or clear cookies per site. That overrides anything set here, and the shop still works - your cart just forgets sooner.

Global Privacy Control

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as declining anything optional and the banner does not ask again. GPC is honoured because it is a real request from a real person. The older Do Not Track header is not a reliable signal and we do not use it as one.

What we hold about you, how long, and how to have it deleted is the privacy policy's job rather than this page's.
